This is the blog of a 40-something who needed a change and gathered up their dog and moved to Minnesota in May 2023. Following major changes life brought us to Virginia in October 2024. Family and friends are welcome to gather here. We will try to celebrate the accomplishments and explore new things.

Yes, that is right. The adventure of living on my own (with Terra of course) in Minnesota has brought us to North Central Virginia.

Another season comes and goes
In Minnesota the saying is that summer ends when the state fair is over. While since the state fair ends Labor Day you could get the impression it refers to the summer mindset but not this year.

Missing Out in Minnesota
Learning to be okay missing events has been a big life lesson this year. The are only so many hours in the day, and I can only be one place at a time. Sometimes, that place doesn't always seem ideal.

Any one who has ever lived in the upper Midwest knows that spring does not come in March, no matter what the calendar says.

One year down...
It has just over one year in the wilds of Minneapolis there have been ups and downs. All and all it has been an exciting adventure. I have lived on my own, for the most part, for an entire year. Terra and I have taken on interesting challenges like elevators, neighbors that don't keep the same hours we do, and trying to keep Terra warm in February.
